Дорогие дети, уважаемые участники Игр «Дети Азии»!
«О спорт! Ты – наслаждение!
Ты верный, неизменный спутник жизни
Нашему духу и телу ты щедро даришь радость бытия»
Эти слова из «Оды спорту» Пьера де Кубертена пронизаны чувством счастья и доброты, заполнившими наши сердца в предвкушении праздника молодости и спорта, II Зимних Всеазиатских Международных детских спортивных игр «Дети Азии», который состоится в Кемерово, в самом сердце Азии.
19 сентября 1995 года, я подписал Указ «О проведении в 1996 году первых Международных спортивных игр «Дети Азии» в целях дальнейшего совершенствования и развития детского спорта.
Игры состоялись в год столетнего юбилея современных олимпийских игр, воспевающих высокие идеалы человечности, духа созидания, благородства, справедливости, честности и прогресса и воссозданных бароном Пьером де Кубертеном как первый всемирный спортивный форум молодежи во имя мира и дружбы между народами.
В Олимпийской хартии торжественно начертаны слова о том, что «Олимпийские игры были возрождены не для того, чтобы участники могли бороться за медали, побивать рекорды и развлекать публику, и не для того, чтобы обеспечивать участникам трамплин к профессиональной спортивной карьере…, а для того, чтобы демонстрировать честное спортивное поведение, стимулировать интерес к искусствам, способствовать развитию любительского спорта – спорта для удовольствия, а не для денег, укреплять мир между народами и добрую волю».
В этих словах заложена добрая воля людей и стремление к радости и совершенству. Эти слова выражают великие олимпийские идеалы, лежащие в самом сердце Международных детских спортивных игр «Дети Азии».
Наша инициатива получила признание и патронат Международного олимпийского комитета и ЮНЕСКО. Игры стали достоянием не только Республики Саха, но и всей страны, и объединяют юных спортсменов многих стран Азиатского континента.
Мы живем в трудное, неоднозначное время, и «Дети Азии» сегодня приобретают, прежде всего, фундаментальное значение, вам, участникам Игр, необходимо воспитывать в себе целеустремлённость, силу духа и волю, потребность в здоровом образе жизни и чувство ответственности за развитие нации, Родины и всей планеты.
За все время проведения Игр «Дети Азии», в них приняли участие более 10 000 юных спортсменов, из которых более 100 человек приняли участие на Олимпийских Играх. И я уверен, что у победителей и всех участников II Международных зимних игр «Дети Азии» впереди светлое счастливое будущее!

Dear children, dear participants of Children of Asia Games!
“O Sport, pleasure of the Gods, essence of life, you appeared suddenly…
like the radiant messenger of a past age…
And the glimmer of dawn lit up the mountain tops and flecks of light dotted the ground in the gloomy forests”
These words from Ode to Sport by Pierre de Coubertin are filled with feelings of happiness and kindness, which overwhelm our hearts in anticipation of the celebration of youth and sport, the Second Winter Children of Asia International Sport Games, that will take place in Kemerovo, at the very heart of Asia.
On September 19, 1995, I signed a Decree “On Organizing in 1996 the First Children of Asia International Sport Games to Further Improve and Develop Children’s Sport”.
Children of Asia Games took place in the year of the 100th Anniversary of the Modern Olympic Games, celebrating the high ideals of humanity, spirit of creation, honor, justice, honesty, and progress, recreated by Baron Pierre de Coubertin as the first worldwide youth sports forum in the name of peace and friendship between peoples.
The Olympic Charter includes the following words: “The Olympic Games were not revived merely to give contestants a chance to win medals and to break records, not to entertain the public, nor to provide for the participants a steppingstone to a career in professional sport... but to demonstrate the principles of fair play and good sportsmanship, stimulate interest in the fine arts, teach that sport is play for fun and enjoyment and not to make money, create international amity and good will.”
These words represent the goodwill of people and their desire for joy and perfection. These words express the great Olympic ideals which are at the very heart of Children of Asia International Sport Games.
Our initiative won the approval and patronage of the International Olympic Committee and UNESCO. The Games became a treasure of not only the Sakha Republic, but the whole country, uniting young athletes from many corners of the Asian continent.
We live in a difficult and uncertain time, and Children of Asia become even more important now. You, the participants of the Games, need to foster your determination, strength of mind, willpower, desire for a healthy way of life, and responsibility for the development of your nation, country, and the whole world.
Over 10,000 young sportsmen participated in Children of Asia Games throughout its history, with more than 100 of them going on to compete in the Olympic Games. I am confident that the winners and all the participants of the Second Winter Children of Asia International Sport Games have a bright and happy future ahead!
